Medicare Annual Open Enrollment – For Advantage Plan Members
The goal is not to switch.
The goal is to verify.
Your plan is required by law to send you the ANOC or Annual Notice of Change by September 30th. It may arrive by postal mail or sometimes by email if you opted into email delivery. Please take time to read your ANOC and write down any questions you have.
If you are happy with your plan, and the plan changes for 2027 plan year no action is required. Your plan will automatically rollover or renew for next year.
If you are unhappy with your plan and the plan changes for 2027, submit the form below and we will assist you in evaluating other available options. But we will need your help. Once you’ve requested an agent review, you will receive an email requesting updated list of prescriptions taken, preferred pharmacy’s, doctors and hospitals you typically use. We cannot move forward without that information, so please watch your email and respond right away.
A strong Medicare review checks prescriptions, doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and premiums. Sometimes a change is appropriate. Many times staying put is the best answer.
Things to Remember

2027 plan benefits are not released by law, until October 1, 2026.

If you want to change your plan for next year, enrollment applications can’t be submitted until October 15th. You have until December 7th 2026 to submit a change request and all changes made during this time take effect January 1, 2027.

We will contact you by email or phone with our findings. If we see a change would benefit you we will schedule a meeting to discuss with you either by phone or in person. In person visits are at our Overland Park office and other locations in Gladstone, KCMO KCK & Independence. Home visits are reserved for those with health limitations or other circumstances.

Please remember to add us to your contacts in your phone so you recognize us when we call or text you. Too many times we call customers who never answer or return our call because they don’t recognize our number. Some cell phone companies have labeled our office numbers as “spam likely” unless you have us added as a contact.

Note: If you don’t make a change by December 7th and then change your mind, you may have another opportunity to change starting January 1st and lasting until March 30th. Changes made during this time will be effective the first day, of the following month.
Trends we are seeing so far:

Funding decreases and increased costs have most advantage plans cutting back on extras like Dental, routine Vision, OTC or Over the counter item benefits, especially in PPO plans. If you always stay in network, HMO plans offer more coverage for these extras.

United Healthcare PPO plans will not offer gym membership access in 2027. If this is important to you, you will need to consider a HMO plan.

A few healthcare providers have narrowed the number of Advantage plans they will work with. Examples are below:

North Kansas City Hospital and Meritas Health only accept Humana Advantage plans.

St Lukes Hospitals and doctors will be out of network for AETNA advantage plans as of January 1, 2027.
